Sasaizumi
Since long ago, Sasaizumi, which operates under the slogan “A ryotei (Japanese-style restaurant) for ordinary people,” has been continuously loved by people in its home region of Sasebo. The restaurant boasts a 100-year history. It is renowned for serving tantalizingly fresh fish dishes, and houses several large-size fish tanks (ikesu) in front of its counter and in its kitchen. Staff use the restaurant’s trucks and head to the fishermen in the region to purchase fish directly from them, and keep the fish alive as they return to the restaurant and transfer them into the fish tanks. Therefore, whenever you visit Sasaizumi, you are guaranteed to be able to taste extremely fresh sashimi (sliced raw fish) and sushi.
Owner’s comment
Sasaizumi originally started operating as a liquor store. Utilizing that experience, the restaurant today offers many different brands and kinds of sake (Japanese rice wine), which are carefully selected by sake sommeliers and specially reserved for our customers. We even serve our own brand of sake named “Sasaizumi” (indicated in Chinese characters as “酒々泉”). As you enjoy our beautifully fresh sashimi or sushi dishes, we recommend that you take your time savoring delicious sake that goes very well with sashimi and sushi.
